Black Pearl is a premium Chinese cherry (Cerasus pseudocerasus) variety, bred from a bud mutation of local cherries in Banan, Chongqing in 1990. Its name comes from its stunning deep purple-red, glossy skin that shines like a black pearl when fully mature. This variety has been awarded National Geographical Indication status .
