Product Introduction
Jinza No.3 is a mid-early maturing F₁ hybrid cucumber bred by the Tianjin Academy of Agricultural Sciences Cucumber Research Institute, approved in 1989. Plants are vigorous with large, dark-green leaves. Both main and lateral vines bear fruit, with the first female flower at nodes 4–6. Fruits are ribbed, green, with dense white spines, about 31 cm long, crisp and aromatic with good market quality. It shows combined resistance to downy mildew, powdery mildew, fusarium wilt and phytophthora blight, performing especially well in blight-prone areas. Suitable for low/mid tunnels, plastic mulching, spring open field and late autumn cultivation, yielding over 6,500 kg per 667 m².
  1. Sowing: For spring tunnel cultivation in North China, seedling age 35–45 days (or 4 true leaves). After cotyledons unfold, maintain 16–18°C in the first half of the night and 28–32°C during the day.

  2. Transplanting: Plant on a sunny day when soil temperature is above 12°C, 3,000–3,500 plants per 667 m².

  3. Water & Fertilizer: Avoid severe seedling hardening. Deep green heart leaves indicate water shortage — water when needed. Apply 5,000 kg+ base fertilizer per 667 m², and 10–20 kg chemical fertilizer after every two fruit pickings.

  4. Pruning: Remove all lateral branches below node 10 to promote early root and middle fruits; keep laterals above node 10 and pinch after 2 leaves beyond a fruit.

  5. Harvest: Pick the first fruit promptly to avoid vine strain.

  6. Pest control: Watch for downy mildew, aphids, whitefly and tea mite.
