It was introduced to China in 1983 and is widely recognized as the earliest-maturing commercial plum variety in China . This variety is prized for its attractive appearance, excellent flavor, and strong stress tolerance.
Appearance:
The fruit is oval to heart-shaped with a light yellow-green ground color and over 85% purple-red to deep red blush coverage, giving it a beautiful translucent appearance. The skin is smooth with a thin gray-white bloom. The flesh is fine, crisp, and juicy – described as yellow with red streaks or fully red depending on the source.
Flavor:
Sweet with a rich aroma, the Oishiwase plum offers a soluble solids content of 12.9% and a high edible rate of 95% due to its small pit.
Size:
Average fruit weight is 70g, with maximum fruit reaching up to 100g.
Growing Advantages:
Excellent cold hardiness down to -28.3°C (-19°F), resistance to bacterial shot-hole disease, and drought tolerance. Early-bearing and highly productive, with mature orchard yields of 2,000–2,500 kg per mu. The fruit has a shelf life of 12 days at room temperature.
