Product Introduction

Product Name: Taiho Sweet Persimmon

Description:
Taiho is a premium, non-astringent sweet persimmon variety developed by Japan’s NARO Institute of Fruit Tree Science. Bred from a cross of “Kaki Okitsu-20” and the famous “Taishu” (Taiqiu), this variety was officially registered in 2015 (Registration No. 24349). It is a PCNA (Pollination Constant Non-Astringent) type persimmon, ensuring reliable sweetness without astringency.

Eat It Like an Apple:
As a fully non-astringent variety, Taiho contains minimal tannins when ripe. Unlike traditional persimmons, there is no need to wait for it to soften or undergo any treatment. It can be enjoyed crisp, sweet, and refreshing, straight from the tree.

Appearance:
The fruit is beautifully flat-shaped with an orange to orange-yellow skin. The flesh is orange-red, crisp, and exceptionally juicy. With an average weight of 300–336 grams, Taiho is a large-fruited variety that commands attention on the shelf.

Flavor:
Taiho delivers an outstanding eating experience with a soluble solids content averaging 16.6% Brix. The flavor is described as crisp, juicy, and refreshing, with a rich, honey-like taste. Growers often note that its taste and texture are very close to the famous Taiqiu variety.

Key Commercial Advantages:

  • Late-Season Market Window – Ripens in mid-to-late November, approximately 20 days to 1 month later than Taiqiu, extending the sweet persimmon season and creating a valuable market window when supply is limited.

  • Exceptionally Low Cracking Rate – Calyx-end cracking rate is only 2%, far lower than many other persimmon varieties, ensuring excellent commercial-grade yield.

  • Excellent Storage Life – With an average shelf life of 30 days at room temperature, Taiho is ideal for e-commerce, long-distance logistics, and extended fresh-market sales.

  • High Productivity – Displays strong parthenocarpic ability, producing seedless fruit without a pollinizer. Minimal early and late fruit drop, with outstanding yield stability
