Donghong is a premium red-centered kiwifruit variety, bred by the Wuhan Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences from the open-pollinated offspring of the famous 'Hongyang' variety. Officially released in 2012, this variety has become the third largest cultivated kiwifruit variety in China, with approximately 300,000 mu under cultivation nationwide.
