Product Introduction

Product Name: Hongdeng Cherry

Description:
Hongdeng is the most popular and iconic sweet cherry variety in China. Bred by the Dalian Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 1963 through crossing "Napoleon" and "Huangyu", this variety was officially named in 1973 and has since become the benchmark of China's domestic cherry industry. Today, “Hongdeng” is a name consumers across China associate with “premium domestic cherries”.

A Cherry That Shines Like a Red Lantern:

Named for its brilliant red color resembling a traffic light or red lantern, Hongdeng cherries are striking on the shelf. The fruit is kidney-shaped to broad heart-shaped, with a glossy, bright red to purplish-red skin that looks like it's been polished with wax.

Flavor & Texture:
The flesh is light yellow-white, crisp, firm, and bursting with juice. With a soluble solids content of 16%–21%, Hongdeng delivers a rich, sweet flavor with a pleasant hint of tartness that appeals to those who enjoy a balanced, refreshing cherry experience.

Size:
A large-fruited variety, average fruit weight is 8–10 grams, with premium fruit reaching 12 grams or more.

Nutritional Value:
Hongdeng cherries are rich in Vitamin C (12–15 mg/100g), iron (0.4–0.6 mg/100g), and anthocyanins. Research has shown that "Redlight" (Hongdeng) exhibits high phenolic content and strong antioxidant capacity, adding a health-focused selling point.

Growing Advantages:
Early-bearing and productive. Requires cross-pollination (recommended pollinizers: Lapins, Rainier, Jiahong). Suitable for open-field and greenhouse cultivation, with strong adaptation to northern China's major cherry-growing regions.

Harvest Season:
Late May to early June – one of the earliest sweet cherries of the season, offering a significant first-to-market advantage.
