Originally from Japan, it was introduced to the United States by renowned breeder Luther Burbank in the late 19th century, and then to China in 1991 by the Shandong Fruit Research Institute. Today, it ranks as the second most planted plum variety in Japan, confirming its strong commercial value.

Appearance:
This variety produces nearly round fruit with a distinctive green skin that contrasts beautifully with its vibrant red flesh when cut open. The skin is thin and smooth with a light powdery bloom. The flesh is bright red, fine, tender, and juicy with a non-melting texture.

Flavor:
Exceptionally sweet and refreshing, with a soluble solids content of 17.2% and total sugar of 13.0%. The flavor is described as having a unique, pleasant aroma with a well-balanced sweet-tart profile.
