Product Introduction

Product Name: Tainong No.2 Mango

Description:
Tainong No.2 Mango, botanically classified as Mangifera indica L. 'Tainong No.2', is a premium early-season mango variety originating from Taiwan, China. It was selected by the Fengshan Tropical Horticultural Experiment Station from open-pollinated seedlings and officially named in 1985, representing one of the first locally bred mango varieties in Taiwan. It is recognized for its distinctive crimson skin, fine fiber-free flesh, and excellent eating quality.

A Mango with Distinctive Crimson Skin:

The defining feature of Tainong No.2 is its striking crimson to oblique-red skin when fully ripe, a color that sets it apart from the golden yellows and purples of many commercial varieties. The fruit is long-oval in shape with a rounded tip and a protruding stem end, averaging 319 grams in breeding trials and commonly reaching 300–380 grams in production.

Flavor & Texture:
Tainong No.2 delivers an exceptionally smooth, fiber-free eating experience. The flesh is yellow to golden-yellow, with a fine, tender texture that is juicy and refreshing. The flavor is described as sweet and aromatic, with a soluble solids content of 17.7%–20% Brix and total sugar of 17.7%. The seed is relatively small, weighing about 40 grams and accounting for approximately 12.5% of the fruit weight.

Key Commercial Advantages:

  • Distinctive Crimson Skin – Visually striking and highly recognizable on the shelf

  • Fiber-Free, Tender Flesh – Fine texture with excellent eating quality

  • High Sugar Content – 17.7%–20% Brix for a rich, sweet flavor

  • Early-Season Market Window – Harvested from May to July in Taiwan, filling the early summer mango gap

  • Anthracnose Resistant – Stronger disease resistance than many commercial varieties

  • Good Storage Tolerance – Firmer than some early varieties, suitable for fresh market distribution
