Varietal characteristics: Chunhongtuo is an extremely early-maturing, fully red, hard-fleshed peach variety. It was developed by the Zhengzhou Fruit Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The fruit of Chunhongtuo is nearly round, with a flat top and occasionally a small tip. The two halves are relatively symmetrical.
The average single fruit weight is 116g - 175g. The fruit skin has a base color of greenish-white. When ripe, the fruit surface is completely covered with rose red, and when overripe, it turns purple-red. The flesh is white, firm and crisp. After complete ripening, it becomes slightly softer. The juice is medium in quantity, with a sweet flavor and a soluble solids content of 10 - 12%. It has a sticky core. Chunhongtuo requires 550 - 600 hours of cold treatment. The fruit development period is about 55 days. It is suitable for cultivation in all peach-growing areas across the country. In the Shaoxing area of Zhejiang Province, it is characterized by early ripening, large fruit size, and no cracking even in rainy weather. It is extremely productive and ripens in late May. After ripening, it can remain on the tree for more than 10 days without falling off or cracking. The tree of Chunhongtuo has a vigorous growth, a semi-open tree posture, and all types of fruit branches can bear fruit, with the majority of fruit branches being medium or long fruit branches. It has rose-like flowers and abundant pollen. Its yield potential is excellent.
